Will Direk Romm Burlat get his 8th Best Director recognition in tonight's Christian Film Festival Awards?

There is no stopping for the hardworking multi-awarded director Romm Burlat. Almost every film festival, his name is on the list of Best Director nominees and at times in the Best Actor nominees.

Just recently, he won Best Director in the 16th We Care International Film Festival  in New Delhi, India for the movie, "Ama Ka Ng Anak Mo". This paved the way to his inclusion as Film Ambassador 2020 as recognized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

Tonight, he is in for another race: for Best Director in the Christian Film Festival. It is triply amusing to note that Burlat earned three Best Actor nominations for his works in "Akay", "Bata Bata Bakit Ka Ginawa" and yes, "Ama Ka Ng Anak Mo", a first for a film director. The first two films were already recognized abroad and the the third one has already been fielded in international filmfests'

Will Burlat go up onstage again to claim his 8th Best Director Award? Which film among the three seems like more Christian to the judges?

It can be recalled that Direk Romm won Best Director in his first film, "Agaw Pansin" in the 4th Lutas Film Festival. He was also recognized as Most Outstanding Director in the Gawad Singing  Film Festival Awards. The other films where he won the Best Director awards are "Cuckoo", ""Balikuko (he won twice), "Ama Ka Ng Anak Mo"(2 wins) and "Sindi".

Good Luck Direk Romm! May God be with you!

Tonight's Christian Film Festival Awards Night  is doubly exciting. ROMMantics are in a tight race for the Best Actor and Best Actress awards.

Ailla Nolasco, now an international flight attendant, has already earned two Best Actress awards as a mother in search for her lost son in "Akay". She got her first Best Actress Award from the 5th Inding Indie Film Festival then at the Dangal ng Bayan Entertainment Awards. She also won Best Supporting Actress as a conservative woman raised by nuns in "Ticked Pink" in the 6th Urduja Film Festival. On the international scene, Akay was finalist at the 16th We Care International Film Festival in IndiaWill she be announced as tonight's Best Actress?

Fiona Yang recently just got the Best Actress statute from the 6th Inding Indie Film Festival and a  Best Actress nomination from the 4th Sorok Film Festival. According to critics, her performance as a young mother who's dark secret was kept hidden by her best friend in " Bata Bata Bakit Ka Ginawa" is one  of last year's best performances. Will Lady Luck smile at her tonight for her 2nd Best Actress trophy?

The reluctant actor, Kimber Lee, hasn't included in his ambitions being an actor. But fate has led him to showbiz world, His first film earned for him a Best New Actor award. It was followed by a Best Supporting Actor for his performance in "Ama Ka Ng Anak Mo". Tonight, he is fighting tooth and nail with other contenders to the Best Actor award for his portrayal of a blind man taking care of a lost child in "Akay". Will he be declared tonight's Best Actor?

Of course, the other contenders for the Best Actor and Best Actress recognition are equally commendable. Let us wait for tonight's verdict.

Indie Actor Excels in two fields; FDCP Film Ambassador and Outstanding Teacher Awardee

Teacher Jek Jumawan moonlights as an actor. For many, it is a difficult task to do but for Jumawan, it seems just like a piece of cake.

Who would ever think that a lowly teacher from Lagro High School can achieve highest honors as a teacher at the same time winning best actor awards not only locally but also in international film festivals? That's a hard task to do and an arduous journey excelling in both fields. But Jumawan is one in a million. For both professions he love, neither one suffers. For him, it is just proper time management, true dedication to his passion and putting equal efforts both as a teacher and an actor.

Jek Jumawan, for the second time was elevated to Film Ambassador by the Film Development Council of the Philippines. Last year, he won  Best Actor Special Mention Citation in the film "Nothing Beats the Oldies" in the Lake City International Film Festival in New Delhi, India. In the same year, he was also awarded Outstanding Teacher of the Philippines by the Instabright Publication.

It was a perfect hitting of two birds with one stone for this award-winning teacher/actor. Among other awards he has amassed in recent years are: one of the 10 inspiring educators of the Philippines and Dangal sa Pagawa awardee; Best actor, Indie Film Chart in the United Kingdom; honorable mention Best Actor award, Oniros Film Festival in Italy; Ulirang Guro sa Wikang Filipino; honorable mention Best Actor for Top Shoet Film Festival in the US and Best Actor, Five Continents Film Festival in Venezuela.

There is no stopping for this amiable teacher/actor. He is slated to do more films while aiming for a doctorate in education. (By Direk Romm Burlat)

An intriguing plot in the film, BAKA SAKALI BAKA KASALI

ROMMantic Entertainment Productions goes bolder in its theme with its upcoming project "Baka Sakali, Baka Kasali". Patterned on a true-to-life account, the movie revolves around three characters. Direk Romm Burlat, is Judge Ramirez, a successful lawyer but his secret of being a closet queen is only known to a few. Chin Soriano plays Jessica, a reluctant prostitute who's husband never knew she is on a flesh trade. Maverick Garcia portrays the  character of Miguel, the unrepenting drug user who's life has been a mess because of his indecision.
