Direk Romm Burlat wins his 13th International Best Director award from Hollywood

Multi-awarded director and actor, Romm Burlat, won his 13th international Best Director award (Honorable Mention) from the Hollywood International Golden Age Film Festival in California, USA. He won for his work in Homecoming (Mammangi).

Called the "Pandemic Director" because of the interminable awards he amassed from international film festivals during the pandemic, Direk Romm, has also won 8 international Best Actor awards for his performances in Covered Candor (Tutop), Attention Grabbing (Agaw Pansin) and Set Alight (Sindi).

Prior to this award, Burlat set a record as the only director who won 4 Best Director and 1 Best Actor awards all in one day from two festivals namely the Port Blair International Film Festival and the Tagore International Film Festival.

"I am really amazed by the turn of events. I won three times for Double Best Director awards in three festivals. Last week, it was even bigger since there was an additional Best Actor award and three Best Film awards for Cuckoo, The Love Child (Bata Bata Bakit Ka Ginawa) and Support (Akay)", Burlat said.

His 13th international Best Director award is his 2nd award from Hollywood. First was a Best Actor plum for his performance in "Covered Candor" at the Hollywood Blood Horror Festival. When asked if he still gets excited receiving more than he dreamt of, Direk Romm said, "Yes, I still get excited every time I received an award. But my long-time dream is for my work to recognized at the Cannes Film Festival in France."

Lately, Direk Romm is busy with his TV shows on Global TV, Starbuzz Television and soon, The Manila Times TV. He is also set to resume shooting of his suspense thriller, "Bakit Nasa Huli Ang Simula".
